Vaccination and testing, the path back to normality
On 2 September 2021, the Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Claude Meisch, and the Minister of Health, Paulette Lenert, presented the COVID-19 health scheme (Stufeplang) which will apply from the start of the 2021-2022 school year. As in the previous year, the objective of the health system remains “Maximal Chancë fir d'Bildung, minimal Chancë fir de Virus”.

COVID-19 cases - Weekly review: 23 - 29 August
For the week of 23 to 29 August, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has increased from 440 to 542 cases (+23%), as well as the number of their identified close contacts, which increased to 1,514, compared to 887 cases the week before (+71%).

For the week of 16 to 22 August, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has increased from 295 to 440 cases (+49%), as well as the number of their identified close contacts, which increased to 887, compared to 831 cases the week before (+7%).

For the week of 9 to 15 August, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has decreased, for the 6th week in a row, from 404 to 295 cases (-27%), as well as the number of their identified close contacts, which dropped to 831, compared to 1,379 cases the week before (-40%).

Vaccination without appointment at the Victor Hugo Hall in Limpertsberg from 16 August 2021
Following the great success of the spontaneous vaccination events in the framework of the "Impf-Bus on tour", carried out by the mobile teams of the Health Directorate, it will also be possible to get vaccinated without prior appointment at the Hall Victor Hugo vaccination centre in Limpertsberg, from 16 August.

For the week of 2 to 8 August, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has decreased, for the 5th week in a row, from 439 to 404 (-8%), while the number of their identified close contacts increased from 1,065 to 1,379 (+23%) the previous week.

For the week of 26 July to 1 August, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has decreased, for the 4th week in a row, from 566 to 439 cases (-22%), as well as the number of their identified close contacts, which dropped to 1,065, compared to 1,599 cases the week before (-33%).

Launch of COVID-19 vaccination in private medical offices
During the week of 2 August, the first vaccinations will be offered in the offices of general practitioners and paediatricians.

For the week of 19 to 25 July, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has decreased, for the 3rd week in a row, from 727 to 566 cases (-22%), as well as the number of their identified close contacts, which dropped to 1,599, compared to 2,431 cases the week before (-34%).

Launch of an additional vaccination campaign for all professionals in contact with vulnerable people
In order to continue to raise awareness among health professionals about the COVID-19 vaccination, the Minister of Health, Paulette Lenert, and the Minister for Family Affairs and Integration, Corinne Cahen, have launched an additional vaccination campaign targeting all professionals in contact with vulnerable people.

Continuation of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign for homeless people
After a first vaccination campaign for the homeless on 1 and 2 June 2021 at the "Wanteraktioun" premises, said campaign by the mobile teams of the Directorate of Health was been extended in order to reach a maximum number of people in very precarious situations who, for health reasons, geographical distance or other reasons, were unable to visit the "Wanteraktioun" premises.

For the week of 12 to 18 July, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has decreased from 829 to 727 cases (-12%), as well as the number of their identified close contacts, which dropped to 2,431, compared to 2,890 cases the week before (-16%).

For the week of 5 to 11 July, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has increased from 787 to 828 cases (+5%), as did the number of their identified close contacts, which rose to 2,890, compared to 2,228 cases the week before (+30%).

Vaccination with a combination of two different COVID-19 vaccines - "mix&match"
Following the recommendations of the Superior Council of Infectious Diseases (Conseil supérieur des maladies infectieuses - CSMI), the Government Council, which met today, decided to adapt its vaccination strategy in order to allow heterologous vaccination (sometimes called "mix and match").

For the week of 28 June to 4 July, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 has increased from 107 to 787 cases (+635%), as did the number of their identified close contacts, which rose to 2,228, compared to 353 cases the week before (+531%).
