COVID-19: Non-validity of COVID-19 rapid antigen tests by teleconsultation via videoconference applications

Unlike claims circulating on social networks, the Ministry of Health has never agreed to a validation procedure for COVID-19 rapid antigen tests by teleconsultation via videoconference applications.

It should be recalled that these tests must be performed or supervised on site by certain health professionals who have the authority to issue an European digital certificate with QR code in case of a negative result. It should also be noted that the certificate is valid for 24 hours.

The negative result of a SARS-CoV-2 rapid antigen test can be certified by:

  • a physician, a pharmacist, a nursing assistant, a medical technical assistant, a nurse, a nurse in anaesthesia and resuscitation, a paediatric nurse, a psychiatric nurse, a graduate nurse, a midwife, a social hygiene assistant, a laboratory technician, a masseur-physiotherapist, an osteopath, authorised to practise their profession in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
  • a civil servant or an employee, in the context of tests carried out on pupils in basic and secondary education, and who is designated for this purpose by the regional director, the school director, the director of the secondary education establishment or the secondary school director. The list of designated public officials or employees will be validated by the Director of Health.

The Covid-19 test certificate issued by the persons referred to in letter a) shall bear a QR code.

Sales of certificates over the Internet are violations of the law and expose those who sell and purchase them to potential prosecution.
