The European Medicines Agency (EMA) presented on Thursday, 18 March, the results of the Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee's (PRAC) analyses on a number of blood problems in people who have recently been vaccinated with AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine.

During the week from 8 to 14 March, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 increased from 1,194 to 1,249 (+5%), while the number of their identified close contacts also increased from 2,847 cases the previous week to 3,669 (+34.5%).

Temporary suspension of vaccination with COVID-19 AstraZeneca vaccine
Following the decision of several EU Member States, including France and Germany, to temporarily suspend vaccination with AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine, Luxembourg has decided to align itself with this decision.

Launch of phase 3 of the vaccination campaign
The first invitations to people covered by phase 3 of the vaccination campaign will most probably be sent out by the end of next week (week 11) More details on the exact dates will be communicated in due course.

Clarification from the Ministry of Health on the AstraZeneca vaccine
The Ministry of Health confirms the quarantine on 8 March and the cessation of vaccinations on 9 March with vials from batch number ABV5300 of AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine, following the notification provided to the Health Directorate by the Austrian agency on the occurrence of serious adverse events.

During the week from 1 to 7 March, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 decreased from 1,315 to 1,194 (-9.1%), while the number of their identified close contacts also decreased from 3,101 cases the previous week to 2,847 (-9.2% ).

Extension of the health measures for air travel to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Ministry of Health wish to inform of the extension of the health measures applicable from 29 January 2021 until 31 March 2021 inclusive, for all travel by air to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

Launch of phase 5a of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 with the AstraZeneca vaccine
The first invitations were sent to people under the age of 65, starting with the oldest, in line with the recommendations of the Superior Council for Infectious Diseases (Conseil supérieur des maladies infectieuses - CSMI) of 4 February 2021 concerning the conditions for administering the AstraZeneca vaccine.

During the week from 15 to 21 February, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 increased from 1,099 to 1,249 (+13,7%), while the number of their identified close contacts has however decreased from 2,860 cases the previous week to 2,766 (-3,3% ).

During the week from 8 to 14 February, the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 decreased from 1,140 to 1,099 (-3,6%), as did the number of their identified close contacts, from 4,067 cases the previous week to 2,860 (-30% ).
