COVID-19: Launch of vaccination by appointment in Luxembourg pharmacies from 26 February
From 26 February, it is possible to get vaccinated in pharmacies, without waiting for the invitation by post. Anyone aged 12 and over can make an appointment for the COVID-19 vaccination at the various participating pharmacies.

Nuvaxovid vaccine (Novavax): Use of COVID-19 vaccine from 1 March at noon (12pm) in vaccination centres
Following the recommendations of the High Council for Infectious Diseases (CSMI) issued on 23 February 2022, the Government Council of 25 February decided to extend the range of vaccines in order to include the new Nuvaxovid vaccine (Novavax).

COVID-19 and hospitals: scaling down of the hospital surge plan to phase 2
In view of the favourable evolution with regards to hospitalisations of patients with COVID-19, both in intensive and in normal care, the national Crisis Cell, in agreement with the Fédération des hôptiaux luxembourgeois (FHL), has decided to lower the surge plan to phase 2.

COVID-19 vaccination centres: closure of the centre Luxexpo The Box and reopening of the centre Hall Victor Hugo
The temporary vaccination centre at Luxexpo The Box (Luxembourg-Kirchberg) will close on 5 March 2022. It will be replaced by the Hall Victor Hugo vaccination centre in Limpertsberg which will reopen on 8 March 2022.

Luxembourg is the first country to contribute COVID-19 virus samples to the new WHO BioHub
Luxembourg has joined a small group of countries to participate in the pilot phase of the WHO BioHub project, dedicated to SARS-CoV-2, of the World Health Organization (WHO). The country was the first to contribute COVID-19 virus samples to the new hub in the framework of the initiative.

Alternative vaccination pattern with an initial injection of Janssen vaccine, followed by an extra dose by mRNA vaccine and an additional mRNA booster vaccine
In order to meet the needs of people travelling to European countries that now require a 3-dose vaccination, the government has decided to offer this alternative pattern to those who wish to obtain it.
